Dr. Robert Puig provides the full scope of urologic care at Urology Specialty Care of Miami in Miami, Florida, where he specializes in da Vinci® robotic-assisted prostate surgery, non-scalpel vasectomy and penile prosthesis surgery, as well as minimally invasive surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia, kidney stones, and incontinence.
Dr. Puig graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree, then received his medical degree from the University of Miami. He went on to complete a two-year general surgery residency at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital Program. He spent a year as a transplant surgery fellow at the University of Miami before completing four years of urology residency training at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Puig spent a significant amount of his Temple University residency training at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and the Fox Chase Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. During this period, Dr. Puig was named the Pfizer Scholar in Urology for his outstanding achievements in the field of urology.
After receiving specialty training in robotic surgery during a mini-residency at the University of California, Irvine, Dr. Puig received specialty training in penile prosthetic surgery with the world-renowned surgeon, Dr. Steven Wilson.
Dr. Puig is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology and was recertified in 2009, with a score ranking in the highest percentile. He’s a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an active member of the American Urological Association. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Florida International University School of Medicine.
Dr. Puig was recognized as a Vitals Top 10 Doctor in the state of Florida. He’s among the top 1% of doctors of the nation’s 870,000 active doctors to receive this award from his patients.
