Mark A. Zakaria, MD, FACOG

Dr. Zakaria is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and fellowship-trained in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. Originally from the midwest, Mark earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry degree from the University of Michigan and completed medical school at the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Detroit Medical Center and a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Dr. Zakaria’s practice philosophy centers on exploring all options for treatment, both nonsurgical and surgical, and strongly believes in providing patient-driven counseling, safe and compassionate care to all women.

Prior to private practice, Dr. Zakaria was an Assistant Professor in the Division of Gynecologic Specialties at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He has also served as a clinical instructor at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Dr. Zakaria has been an invited teaching faculty member for courses in advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques including robotics, advanced laparoscopy, and hysteroscopy.

Dr. Zakaria enjoys spending his free time outdoors, including mountain biking, gardening and playing tennis.  He also enjoys traveling with friends and family, cooking, painting and supporting our community.
