FAQ
You can call our office at 305-271-8222 starting at 8 am, Monday through Saturday, and our phone staff will assist you. If you call when our office is closed, you can leave a message and someone will call you back once the office reopens. One of our office staff begins picking up messages at 7:30 am to assist patients in scheduling same-day visits. Our office lines get forwarded to our answering service from 11:45 am to 1:00 pm Monday through Friday; if you call during this time, you can leave a message and someone will promptly call you back. The office lines get forwarded to the answering service again for the evening starting at 4:45 pm. The office closes at 5 pm Monday through Friday and at noon on Saturday.
You can call our office at 305-271-8222, give your child’s name and age, and request a check-up appointment. We remind our patients at the end of each well visit when the next well visit is due. At certain times of the year, especially May through August, many of our patients need forms completed for camp, school, and athletics. We encourage you to plan ahead when scheduling check-ups during this busy time period.
You can call our office at 305-271-8222, give your child’s name and age, and briefly describe the reason for the visit. We strive to give sick children same-day appointments with their primary doctor. However, if that doctor is heavily booked at the time you need to come in, or is not in the office that day, we will schedule your visit with another doctor of your choice who has an appointment available. If the office is extremely busy the phone staff will ask you a few questions to determine if the appointment could be scheduled for the following day. If it cannot, we will give you a time to come in that same day. We will try to see you as promptly as possible, but there may be a slight wait. We ask for your patience during those times.
We encourage you to call during regular office hours for common, routine questions. If you have a serious medical concern or your child is ill, you can call 305-271-8222. Our answering service will give your message to an after-hours pediatric nurse who will call you back. If you believe you have a true medical emergency, call 911 immediately for assistance.
When you make the appt. please briefly inform our staff why you would like your child seen; some concerns require more time and this information will help in scheduling. Bring any medical records you may have from a recent ER visit or hospitalization. Please arrive on time. Please anticipate if a second (or third) child in your family needs to be seen and request an extra appointment prior to arriving at the office. Also, know your health insurance policy; please bring a new insurance card if your plan has changed.
Our office will be happy to complete the forms in a timely manner. Many of these forms can be done at the time of the checkup visit. If your child is current with their checkups, (well visit within the past year for age 2 and up; or up-to-date on regular well visits for less than 2 years of age), please see our website Request School/Camp Forms. Please allow 48 hours for the forms to be finished. There is a fee for the forms depending on the complexity of the form, due at the time of pick up.
Please request medication refills on our website. Please allow up to 48 business hours for refills to be sent electronically.

Yes, we always welcome new patients, from birth to age 18 years. Please call for an appointment and to verify that we accept your insurance. Once you have made an appointment please obtain previous medical records (especially immunization records and growth charts) and bring those with you to your first appointment. You can access the new patient forms on this website, fill those out ahead of time, and print them. Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow for registration time.
Usually, you will see your primary provider (doctor or NP) for visits, especially at well checkups as those are scheduled in advance. We encourage this continuity as it establishes a comfortable and trusting relationship over time. If your primary provider is heavily scheduled or not in the office, you will be offered an appointment with a different provider. This flexibility ensures that your child will be cared for in a timely manner. At any time, if you would like to change your primary doctor and see another physician in our group, just make your appointment with the physician of your choice.
Please understand, as Walk-In patients, your child/ren will be assigned to the first available provider (doctor or NP). You may not end up with your usual provider. This “Walk-In” time is meant for patients with acute, straight forward problems that can be diagnosed and treated expeditiously. Chronic, ongoing medical conditions or mental health/behavioral concerns should be scheduled appointments. If a patient does Walk-In without an appointment (after 8:30), we will certainly see the child but they will be scheduled with whichever provider has most availability. There may be a wait. We will always do our best to accommodate all patients that need to be seen.
