What to Expect on Your First Visit to Our Office
Welcome to The Center for Gynecologic Oncology and thank you for choosing our practice for your gynecology oncology needs. We want your first visit, and every visit to our office to be seamless.
Here are our recommendations to facilitate the process:
Patient Registration
Upon arrival, please check in with the front desk. Our paperwork process is online, completed on an iPad, which our receptionist will provide to you. If you are unable to complete the registration process on the iPad, please notify the receptionist and she will provide you with the required printed paperwork for you to complete. When the registration process has been completed, please return the iPad or paperwork to the receptionist.
Photo ID and Medical Records
When you check-in, please provide the receptionist with your insurance card, picture ID as well as any medical records you have brought with you. Our staff will scan your records and add them to your chart for the physician to review. Your photo will also be taken and added to the file.
Wait Time
Once the front desk has completed the check-in process, please take a seat and the medical assistant will call you once the exam room and the physician are ready. Please note, due to the nature of our practice, wait times may be long.
We value your time. We understand how frustrating it can be to experience long wait times to see our doctors. Each patient is unique and it’s impossible to anticipate how much time each patient needs. As specialists, our goal is to make sure you have all the information you need to make informed decisions and all your questions answered. And that often takes more time than expected.
We suggest you bring reading materials or a personal electronic device to help pass the time and please feel free to access our Wi-Fi network. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
Insurance
If your insurance requires a referral, please let us know at the time you are making your appointment. It is highly recommended that you double-check with us a day or two prior to your scheduled appointment to make sure the referral process has been completed.
Surgery
If surgery is required, your physician will explain the procedure and then arrange for you to meet with the surgical coordinator. The coordinator will answer any additional questions you may have, schedule the date for surgery, review the pre and post-op instructions, and give you a consent form to sign.
Surgical Forms
If you require any forms to be completed for either FMLA or disability, please provide the printed forms to the coordinator or email them to surgery@salomtangir.org. Please note there is a $25.00 fee for the completion of these forms.
Cancellation
If you cannot keep your scheduled appointment, please try to give us a minimum of 24-hour advance notice so we may accommodate another patient in need of our services. Due to the nature of our practice, our policy is to charge a $35.00 cancellation fee for lack of proper notice.
Safety
For the safety of our patients and staff, our practice is currently requiring all patients to wear masks and come alone to the office. At your request, your physician will gladly speak to your family member, friend, or partner via FaceTime or phone.
