REPRODUCTIVE ENDOCRINOLOGY & INFERTILITY
Studies recently showed that nearly 15% of American couples are infertile. Medicinally, this means the inability to conceive a child after one year of unprotected intercourse. Male and female infertility, menopause and genetics are all factors that contribute to the statistics. The lifestyle of today additionally affects all of the patients. A sedentary lifestyle, stress, poor diet, sexual history, smoking, alcohol, and many other risk factors contribute to infertility.
Despite the outlook, medicine today and experts in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) are well skilled in helping couples in becoming parents. Personalized care, patient focus, and compassionate and warm setting are our priorities. Any condition concerning fertility is sensitive, and understanding the emotional aspect and psychological toll it takes on the patients is important for us.
Conditions responsible for infertility in women include polycystic ovarian syndrome, irregular menstrual cycles, uterine fibroids, low number of eggs and endometriosis. Several factors can lead to damage to fallopian tubes, which prevent sperm from reaching the egg or in some cases blocking the fertilized egg from entering the uterus. Morphological changes in female reproductive organs can lead to all sorts of fertility problems, which is why preventive monitoring always helps.
