Leonardo Henriquez, MD is trained in Surgical Pathology and General Surgery from the University of Massachusetts. In 1990, he trained under Dr. Reddick and Dr. Olsen, known as the fathers of Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy in the United States. Dr. Henriquez performed Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy surgeries with great success, when very few people believed in it. He performed the first Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy in South America and also taught the first in vivo training course for the surgery there as well.
In 1992, Dr. Henriquez presented an impressive Laparoscopic Surgery in Acute Cholecystitis before the World Congress of Surgery. Throughout the years, he’s performed a high-volume of surgeries, reaching over 10,000 cases during his career. Dr. Henriquez operated at the University of Miami and directed the Breast Center at Jackson South, in the name of University of Miami. He then joined the Robotic world in Surgery, performing hundreds of Robotic cases, which lead him to the role of Minimally Invasive Surgeon at Gastro Health.
Today, Dr. Henriquez performs Oncoplastic Breast Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgeries at Breast Care Center Miami. He also specializes in Gallbladder Removal and Hernia Repair surgeries.
