Dr. Robin Straus Furlong was raised in Miami Florida and has been a pediatrician in private practice since 1989. She is a proud graduate of UM-Miller School of Medicine and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles residency program. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Fellowship trained in Outpatient Pediatrics. In addition to her practice, Beachside Pediatrics, LLC in Bay Harbor Islands, Florida, Dr. Straus sees newborns at Mount Sinai Medical Center and gives prenatal lectures and school-related pediatric lectures in the community.
Dr. Straus Furlong is involved with the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, currently serving as the Region 5 representative to the Board of Directors. She is the current Co-Chair of the Gun Violence Task Force and a member of the Advocacy and Membership Committees. She is also involved with the UM-Miller School of Medicine residency program and is the immediate past president of their Medical Alumni Association. Dr. Straus Furlong is active in her synagogue, serving on its Board of Trustees and as Co-Chair of its Inclusion Committee. She is a past president and serves on the current Board of Directors of National Council of Jewish Women-Miami, receiving its Myra Farr Community Service Award in 2018. Dr Straus Furlong serves as well on the Board of Directors of Yodeah, a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness and encouraging testing of adults at risk for the BRCA gene.
Dr. Straus Furlong enjoys hiking, power walking, skiing and traveling; especially when shared with her family. She was married to the late Richard B. Furlong, M.D. and has three children and two grandsons.
When asked if she would choose her career again, Dr. Straus emphatically answers in the affirmative as she chose Pediatrics solely because of her love for children and wanting to make an impact on the lives of the next generation.
