Women’s healthcare should be safe and convenient — so that your mental health and physical well-being can continue to remain a top priority.
As we continue to adapt to our new reality surrounding the spread of COVID-19, we are making every effort to increase access to women’s healthcare during this challenging time. This includes keeping all of our patients safe and secure by providing a variety of virtual and telehealth options when it is possible, depending on the type of appointment or consult and the patient’s needs.
Because change can be overwhelming — and the last thing you need is added stress — we hope this guide can help simplify some of the options available to you so that your mental health and physical well-being can continue to remain a top priority.
Telemedicine at Beaches OBGYN
Telemedicine consults with your provider are available for new and existing Beaches OBGYN patients using Klara, one of the nation’s leading healthcare communication platforms. Through our secure text messaging system, simply text “request telemedicine consult” to (904) 441-6725 from the comfort of your own home — or opt for the easy-to-use messenger found on our home page. You will immediately receive a verification code before sending your request, and a staff member will be in touch shortly to address any appointment needs, prescription refills, follow-up questions, and other non-emergency concerns.
Telemedicine consults are available for concerns and issues such as:
- Contraceptive counseling: If initiating a new method of birth control, a recent blood-pressure reading may be required.
- Prescription refills: Receive refills called into your local pharmacy for certain medications including birth control.
- STD screenings and treatment: Upon discussing exposure and/or symptoms, an electronic blood work order may be sent to a local lab for screening. Treatment can also be recommended for any previously diagnosed herpes infections.
- Treatment for common infections: Bacterial vaginosis, vaginal yeast infections, and simple urinary tract infections (UTIs) may be treated. Telemedicine treatment not recommended if these issues are recurring.
- Hormone therapy counseling and management of menopause symptoms: Symptoms of menopause may include insomnia, depression or mood swings, changes in libido, vaginal dryness, hot flashes, bladder control issues, and more, many of which may be treatable with hormone therapy.
- Prenatal and postpartum: Certain prenatal visits for low-risk patients (who can check blood pressure at home) may be conducted virtually during this critical period as we navigate the COVID-19 outbreak. This may also include some postpartum visits.
As we work to increase the availability of this messaging service, feel free to request a telemedicine consult with your provider, and we will make every effort to accommodate those requests the same day.
